Presentation of the NCFCN

By Decision N° 061/CAB/PM of 12 June 2003, the Prime Minister, Head of Government, created the National Committee for the Follow up and Coordination of ACP/EU Economic Partnership Agreements.

The Committee, the presidency is confided to the Minister of Economy and Finance (MINEFI), designated leader of these negotiations by decision of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, No. 114/CAB/PM of 1st September 2005, is a consultative organ charged of studying, elaborating, expressing opinions and formulating any suggestions or propositions to the Government on issues relating to the conduct of EPA negotiations.

The Decision N°063/CAB/PM DU 18 avril 2008 confided the Committee to the Presidency of the Minister of Economy, Planning and Territorial Development.

The Committee has as mission to:

- initiate and validate studies on the impact of these agreements at the national, sub-regional and regional level;

- Identify the points of negotiations ;

- See to the conformity of the formal frameworks of the negotiations with the Cameroonian nomenclature in matters of agreements and treaties ;

- See to the synergy between international organisations, development  strategies and the process of regional integration ;

- Prepare all the meeting earmarked both at national, regional and international level;

- Engage at the end of the negotiations, reflections and subsequent studies of adaptation and compatibility of the EPAs with the development strategies;

- Serve interface and contribute to the regional negotiation process.

 

The Technical Secretariat is currently under the coordination of Mrs Chantal ELOMBAT MBEDEY, Director of Regional Integration at MINEPAT.
